Do you know that your charter will soon receive a performance evaluation from the Arizona Dept. of Education, pursuant to Arizona law (ARS 15-241 (DD))? The preliminary report is available for viewing on ADE common logon, AZ Learns/Adequate Yearly Progress Application, scroll down to “District/Charter Holder Evaluations.” The final report will be available to the public.
The method used for evaluation has been revised (see attached). It is composed of four elements which rank LEAs on a point scale that ranges from zero to 220. Your charter will be ranked by points earned; there will be no identifying labels such as “underperforming,” performing,” etc.
The four elements are:
Measures of Academic Progress. This is a value-added or growth analysis that looks at individual student improvement over time. 100 possible points.
Pupil Assessment Data. This measure looks at the percentage of students passing the AIMS exam. 100 possible points.
Attendance and Graduation Rate. 5 possible points.
Percentage of parents that consider the quality of their child’s education as excellent. This is based on the results of parent satisfaction surveys administered by districts/charter holders.* 15 possible points.
*If your charter did not submit the parent satisfaction survey by the Feb. 5 deadline, you have been provided one last opportunity to submit and earn up to 15 points. Don’t miss this chance to improve your ranking.
You will have until 5pm on Friday, February 26th to submit. An email with instructions was sent February 17th.
