Arizona public schools educate more than a half-million Latino students, a large and fast-growing segment that is already the state’s largest and will someday soon represent a majority of all K-12 enrollment. The same holds true with increasing Latino enrollment in Arizona public charter schools.
Just as Latino enrollment is on-the-rise, so are academic outcomes! In particular, Latino charter students are seeing rapid improvement on the AzMERIT assessment relative to their statewide peers. There is more work to be done, but this is a positive trend and indication these schools are making real progress.
