Yvonne Watterson – Communications & Social Media

Yvonne helps coordinate our communications. We engage daily with a diverse community of policy makers, parents, and leaders on all major social media platforms, and additionally, our members receive a weekly e-newsletter and real-time advocacy alerts.

Yvonne brings to the Association her experience as an educator, working in the public charter school movement since its inception. She has served at some of our state’s highest-performing schools, including Arizona School for the Arts and GateWay Early College High School.

For her efforts in school reform as a principal and turnaround specialist, Yvonne’s work has been recognized by the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools and has also been featured in national publications including Education Week and the New York Times. Beyond the schoolhouse, her advocacy on behalf of immigrant students led to her being honored with the City of Phoenix MLK Living the Dream Award and the Maricopa County YWCA Tribute to Women Social Justice Leader Award.

Beyond the confines of our beautiful office (a home away from home for our member schools), Yvonne is a freelance writer.
