Vaccine Information for Charter School Employees
Maricopa County Public Health is connecting regional sites with vaccine providers like pharmacies to provide COVID-19 vaccines to staff of public, private, and charter schools, as well as licensed and unlicensed childcare providers who care for 5 or more children who do not live in their household. Each region has a designated school district leading the vaccine operations who has been asked to communicate with all charter schools in their district footprint.

- The U.S. Department of Education website has created COVID-19 guidance for schools. You can email questions to COVID-19@ed.gov
- The Arizona Department of Education continues to develop and share guidance to schools regarding instructional time, statewide testing, provision of special education services, school meals, and more. Click HERE.

- The Governor’s office website includes more resources, including a frequently-asked-questions documents, the latest news from state officials, and video messages from Gov. Doug Ducey and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman. You can find more information here.
- Special Education (Federal Guidance) -The U.S. Department of Education has released Questions and Answers on Providing Services to Children with Disabilities During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Outbreak
- Osborn Maledon has also issued Legal Guidance related to serving students with disabilities during School Closures.
- The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) and The School Superintendents Association has released a new resource about the two options — the Summer Food Service Program and the Seamless Summer Option —available for schools to receive funding to serve meals and snacks when schools are closed.
- ExcelinEd is offering a map and databasewith state-by-state updates on actions education systems have taken in response to COVID-19
- The PIE Network is providing Rapid Response Resources.
- Continuously being updated, the Arizona Department of Education has compiled a Virtual Learning Hub – a resource database for teachers and families to assist them as they plan for at-home instruction.
- National School Choice Week has compiled a list of online resources to assist schools and parents.
- Learning with Khan Academy during School Closures – Kahn Academy offers online self-paced, interactive content, exercises, videos and articles for students in all grades and most content areas at no charge. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the company is offering daily learning schedules for 4-18 year olds that can be used or adapted for your school.
- Google Hangouts Meet enables teachers to give live lectures and schedule meetings. There are also chat options for interactions with students.
- Zoom is offering free unlimited meetings for teachers and students during the COVID-19 crisis. To take advantage of this offer, students and teachers must complete this form with their school email addresses.
- Discovery Education – Explore website for Free Access to Discovery Education Experience
- BrainPOP is offering free access to schools. This group of educational websites provides short animated movies for students with quizzes and materials for science, English, social studies, math, engineering and technology, art, music and health.
- Kahoot, a distance-learning platform, is offering free access to self-paced challenges, ready-to-play games and reports to assess learning.
- National School Choice Week has compiled a list of online resources to assist schools and parents.
- Schools and families can link to free virtual museum tours around the world.
- ASU For You includes many learning tools at no cost such as virtual field trips; library access; video lessons, labs and simulations in K-12 subject areas; badge and certificate programs in areas such as health and well-being, smart cities and environmental science; tutoring, online courses and training videos for teachers or parents teaching from home; and courses for college credit.
- SchoolHouse Connection has a resource page to help schools address the needs of students experiencing homelessness.
Educational Resources
- FASTalk – Families can sign up to receive weekly curriculum-aligned activities sent via text in their specified language from FASTalk This research based tool offers lessons to help children continue their daily learning during these challenging times. Any caregiver with access to a cell phone can participate. The activities are engaging and easy for busy families to do anywhere.
- Sponsored by Unite for Literacy, Digital Library allows families to build one of the most critical skills we can teach our students in today’s economy while they are at home. The library has hundreds of books to choose from.
- Parenting During COVID-19
- Scholastic Learn at Home: Keep the learning going with special cross-curricular journeys. Every day includes four separate learning experiences, each built around a story or video.
- Zearn: Online math lessons customized for grades K – 5, including 400 hours of digital lessons with on-screen teachers.
- Most Mathnasium Math Learning Centers in the greater Phoenix area, will be offering live, face-to-face instructions over an online platform. Parents can visit Mathnasium.com to find the closest learning center and get more information.
- Free Resources to Help Students Understand Coronavirus
- ASU For You includes training videos for parents teaching from home.
Housing, Food, and Necessities
- Visit the AZ Department of Economic Security (DES) Services online. They have created a COVID-19 page with information and phone numbers. Please note that information for unemployment insurance benefits are provided on this website. Services include: unemployment insurance benefits, services for the developmentally disabled, the Arizona early intervention program, cash, medical and nutrition assistance (food stamps), child case assistance, short-term crisis service and mortgage assistance.
- Health-e-Arizona PLUS – Click HERE for the online application for nutrition assistance (food stamps), Medicaid (AHCCCS) and cash assistance. Call 1-855-432-7587 for assistance with the application.
- Community Action Agencies (CAA) offer a wide variety of services including rental assistance and general casework. Click HERE
- The Senior Help Line – top resource for Arizona’s seniors and elderly. 24/7 Hotline Number: 602-264-4357 Visit online
- Food Banks – Directory of food banks provided through the Arizona Food Bank Network. Click HERE
- Assistance with Utilities and Bill Pay – Utility companies are offering assistance with bills including delayed shut offs for people who cannot afford to pay. You will need to call each specific company and inquire about what may be available to assist you. (SRP 602-236-8888 or APS 602-371-7171)
- Eviction assistance – The Arizona Department of Housing offers limited eviction assistance in certain zip codes, please visit this website for further information.
- Arizona landlord/tenant Advice Services – The landlord tenant program is provided through the City of Phoenix. Visit their website here
- Drivers License Renewal – Driver License renewal requirements are extended six months from the expiration date for all Arizona driver licenses and driving permits that expire between March 1, 2020 and September 1, 2020. Requirements to submit a medical clearance card for a commercial driver license are extended until September 1, 2020. Visit Arizona Department of Transportation for more information.

This HIPPA and FERPA compliant app allows families and staff to pre-screen at home, reducing the laborious and costly work of checking for fevers at the door. They even have a program to help supply families with thermometers. This app has been designed specifically for privacy and compliance and is used by schools and hospitals nationwide.
