Developed by the Arizona Charter Schools Association and Center for Student Achievement with the support of a federal grant, the Quality Standards Evaluation Tool is a set of guidelines used by school leaders and teachers to increase student achievement and strengthen school sustainability. The Association was the driver in the development and implementation of the Arizona Growth Model. 2017 Legislative Summary

At the Legislature, the education priorities included teacher pay and empowerment scholarship accounts. When the dust settled, K-12 education expenditures for teacher pay and results-based funding will rise, little “damage” was done to public charter schools, and quite a few notable victories were achieved.

Without your Association, charter schools would not be part of the Proposition 123 settlement. We intervened in the lawsuit after initial settlement discussions excluded charter students. Our work provides charters with an additional $68 million in FY16 and FY17.

As a result of our combined efforts of grassroots support and the Association’s lobbying strength, we were able to provide more than $10 million in relief to charters affected by the Small School Weight cut. In addition, we protected our smallest charter schools from an immediate 100% Small School Weight cut.

After years of advocacy, the Association worked to support legislation that enacted the formation of the Public School Credit Enhancement Fund. This fund will be leveraged to provide more than $300 million of low cost financing for quality schools.

Developed by the Arizona Charter Schools Association and Center for Student Achievement with the support of a federal grant, the Quality Standards Evaluation Tool is a set of guidelines used by school leaders and teachers to increase student achievement and strengthen school sustainability. Growth Model

The Association was the driver in the development and implementation of the Arizona Growth Model. In cooperation with the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools, the Association pioneered the use of student growth percentile data for all K-12 public school students here.

2017 Legislative Summary

At the Legislature, the education priorities included teacher pay and empowerment scholarship accounts. When the dust settled, K-12 education expenditures for teacher pay and results-based funding will rise, little “damage” was done to public charter schools, and quite a few notable victories were achieved.

Proposition 123 - $68M

Without your Association, charter schools would not be part of the Proposition 123 settlement. We intervened in the lawsuit after initial settlement discussions excluded charter students. Our work provides charters with an additional $68 million in FY16 and FY17.

As a result of our combined efforts of grassroots support and the Association’s lobbying strength, we were able to provide more than $10 million in relief to charters affected by the Small School Weight cut. In addition, we protected our smallest charter schools from an immediate 100% Small School Weight cut.

Facilities - $300M

After years of advocacy, the Association worked to support legislation that enacted the formation of the Public School Credit Enhancement Fund. This fund will be leveraged to provide more than $300 million of low cost financing for quality schools.
