Governance Support

One of the pillars of a quality school is good governance, and with an estimated 2500+ people serving on around 560 charter school boards all across Arizona, we know that board members represent a powerful force working to support quality in our charter sector. At the Arizona Charter Schools Association, we understand what quality school boards do, and we help them do it with resources they need to be great stewards of public funds and trust.

Along with in-person events at our Training Center, we provide webinars, newsletters, and social media updates to help board members draw on each other for advice, share strategies for success, and stay informed about best practices in charter school governance.

Professional Learning & Networking Opportunities for Board Members

Our signature Governance Week is a three-day training open to all Arizona’s charter school board members. Governance Week focuses on supporting boards in understanding our Quality Standard for Governance and helps raise awareness of the uniqueness of charter board service with trainings that focus on:

  • Strategic board composition
  • Recruitment of board Members
  • Quality, compliant board meetings
  • Support and evaluation of the school leader
  • Data-driven governance
