Jamar serves as the Communications Coordinator for the Arizona Charter Schools Association. He publishes the Association’s newsletters and marketing emails, manages its social media accounts and is the lead writer for the Association’s blog. Prior to joining the Association, Jamar spent eight years as a reporter for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, covering education, public safety, county government and neighborhoods. As a former journalist, Jamar is a passionate storyteller who embraces the opportunity to highlight the positive happenings in Arizona’s charter schools. Jamar is a Philadelphia native who graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in journalism and mass communications. He also served in the U.S. Army, but still forgets to make his bed some mornings. Jamar is secretary of the Arizona Association of Black Journalists, the local chapter of the National organization. In his free time, he’s a wannabe foodie who enjoys Phoenix’s burgeoning restaurant scene.
